About Braille Literacy Canada
Tami Grenon - Director
I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia. I have over ten years' experience in providing case management and employment counselling and support to people with disabilities, and have been working as a program officer with Service Canada since April 2007.
I was introduced to braille at the age of six while attending the W. Ross Macdonald School in Brantford, Ontario. Through the support of my teachers, I became proficient in reading and writing contracted braille, and I developed a passion for exploring ways in which braille could increase my level of independence in the future. Braille continues to play a critical role in my personal and professional life. In addition to accessing books and popular games, I use braille for a variety of everyday tasks such as organizing my kitchen, labeling my files and documents, accessing signs and reading restaurant menus.
When I am not at work, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and going for walks. I am also an avid cook and I love to swim with my local masters swim club.
